A fencing jacket should be tight-fitting and well padded in the chest, with a high collar. Jackets fasten on the opposite side of the weapon hand or the back and usually extend below the groin area. The jacket should be tight, but shouldn’t restrict your movement. So, make sure it fits properly and is comfortable. The jacket should be strong and durable and if it’s made of cotton wash it only in cold water and don’t put it in the clothes dryer. The jacket should be breathable, so the body heat passes through it keeping you cool and dry and it should come with an adjustable groin strap. Jackets come in various sizes and materials.
