All About Basketballs

Like baseball, basketball uses a variety of official balls for high school use, women, youth, the NCAA and the NBA etc. Women's basketballs are usually an inch smaller than men's, 28.5 inches compared to 29.5 inches, while children's sizes are smaller still. Basketballs are designed specifically for these leagues and also for outdoor and indoor use. Basketballs are generally made of leather, composite leather and rubber. They have a rubber interior bladder and are wound in nylon or something similar. The valve is also an important part of the ball as you don't want air leaking from it during a game. An ideal ball will retain its shape and absorb moisture while giving you a good grip.
