Boomerangs are returning sticks that have been around for centuries, but only recently have they evolved into sporting equipment. Over the past few years they have been used in boomerang throwing contests and tournaments around the world, with a World Cup being held every two years Most tournaments feature events such as accuracy, Aussie round, endurance, fast catch, maximum time aloft and trick catch/doubling. In tournaments, competitors accumulate points based on their ranking in each event, and the total points determine the overall winner. Team events are also played in boomerang. It's an inexpensive sport to play as all you need to participate is a boomerang or two.
