Boomerangs are generally made of wood, plastic, aluminum, carbon fiber, fiberglass, or some other composite materials. They are often referred to as rangs, booms, returners, Bs or sticks. They come in various shapes and sizes and glow in the dark models are popular. Most sports boomerangs weigh less than 100 grams. Maximum time aloft boomerangs weigh less than 25 grams. They should be flat for maximum performance and warps in either arm will affect its flight. Nicks and gouges in wood models can be filled with wood putty, sanded, and re-coated with polyurethane to seal against moisture. Boomerangs are precision objects which are hard to mass produce. It takes patience and practice to learn how to throw one properly, so don't get discouraged.
