When you are canoeing you want to place all of your gear in the center of the canoe if possible and you want it to be contained so it doesn't roll around. The best way to do this is to put all of your gear, clothing, personal items, etc. in a properly sized dry bag or wet bag. The bag should be waterproof and reinforced at the bottom as it may be sitting in water. You should use lightweight, but strong and durable bags that are easy to carry by handles or shoulder straps. Bags with separate compartments are the best and make sure it is easily accessible so you won't be fumbling around in the canoe. You should try to secure your bags to the canoe in case it tips over.
