Flights or feathers act as the wings at the back of darts to guide them and keep them flying straight. The size of surface area of a flight is in direct proportion to how much stability it adds to the dart. So the bigger the flight, the more stability and drag the dart has. Flights come in various shapes, colors and designs and it’s a good idea to start out with a large flight and experiment with different shapes and sizes. Competitive and professional players usually use smaller flights because they are very accurate and don’t need extra stability. Large flights can also get in the way of your other darts since they take up space. It’s hard to place three large flight darts in the same spot. Flights are made of various materials, but none of them will greatly affect a dart’s flight.
