Shafts are the short stick sections that connect the dart’s body with its flights or feathers. Shafts come in various lengths and styles. Longer shafts are suitable for players with weak or straight throws, as they add more stability to the dart. Shafts may slightly affect the dart’s weight, but they mainly determine the strength. Metal shafts may bend, but won’t break and will last longer. However, you may be playing with a set of darts that are all bent differently. Nylon and plastic shafts are also available and vary from soft and flexible to hard and brittle. Plastic shafts will break instead of bending, but at least you know they are straight. Try out the different types before buying your shafts.
