A goaltender's best friend during a game could possibly be a pair of gloves because the rules of the sport forbid the goalie from catching the ball, so it must be stopped or deflected by the palm or back of the glove. This makes it essential to get a pair of well padded gloves which protects all areas of your hand including fingers, palms and the backs. However, because you are handling a stick throughout the game your stick handling glove will be less padded, especially in the palm, as you need flexibility to maneuver the stick. Other players are allowed to wear gloves to get a good grip on their sticks and to keep their hands warm and protected. Gloves come in various materials, sizes and colors.
