Field hockey is a popular game with men and women around the world, so the clothing is a little different for each. You can wear anything in an informal game, but in a regulated game, women wear socks, skirts, kilts or shorts and short sleeved shirts, while the men wear socks, shorts and short sleeved shirts. Most men and women wear Lycra shorts underneath as well. Longer sleeved shirts or sweaters are available for games in cold weather. Sweat suits and warm-up suits are also used in field hockey. You need a uniform that can keep you either warm and dry or cool and dry while playing. Uniforms come in various sizes, materials and colors.
