All About Hockey Protective Equipment

Smart hockey players protect themselves at all times, even during pick up games and practices. There are so many ways to get injured while on the ice. It’s so easy to get hit by the puck, a stick and a skate blade. You can also hurt yourself by falling onto the ice itself and by falling into the end boards and nets. Many promising hockey careers have ended prematurely because the right protective equipment wasn’t worn. While on the ice, all parts of your body are vulnerable and you should protect as many areas as possible. Make sure you wear protective equipment on your shins, elbows, shoulders, thighs, tailbone, lower back, abdomen, chest, hands, groin, eyes, mouth, and head. You should also consider protecting your neck and ankles if possible. Goaltenders wear extra padding on their legs, groin, arms, chest and abdomen and wear a catching glove and a blocking glove along with a goalie mask. You will find protective gear for all of these areas of the body in assorted sizes, shapes, styles, colors and materials. Make sure your protective equipment fits you properly and is lightweight, but strong. It should also be well ventilated to keep you cool.
