Good sets should also come with measuring devices as well. You can purchase sets for metal shoes as well as for rubber, plastic and foam shoes. If you are buying metal shoes and stakes and want to play competitively, you should make sure the equipment meets all of the specifications set by the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association of America (NHPA). You will, of course have to build your own pits and have the space to play the game properly.
