Lacrosse goalies are the last line of defense on the team and are continuously facing shots all game long, so they have to make sure they are padded to the hilt, but still have the mobility and flexibility needed to play their position properly and well. The goalkeeper must wear a face mask and helmet with a mouth guard, throat protector and chest protector. They should also wear the proper amount of padding on their hands, arms, legs, shoulders, chest and of course, in their groin and crotch area. Any internal padding should be a little larger and be padded a little more than other players. They should also make sure their shoes are well padded or cushioned.
