Because of the hardness of the lacrosse ball and the high speed at which it can travel, you don't want to play the game without properly protecting your groin or crotch area and let's not forget about the sticks too. Men and women should wear hard plastic or removable cups for protection. The cups fit into a supporter that fits around your waist and they are lined with foam rubber on the inside for extra padding. There are also shorts available that have the protective cups sewn into them. Supporters and cups come in various sizes and are available in men's and women's models.
