All About Crosse - Lacrosse Stick

The crosse or lacrosse stick is generally made of wood or a synthetic or composite material with a net pocket at the end of it and a handle that is usually made of aluminum. There are plastic models for children. For males, the crosse must be a length between 40 inches - 42 inches for attackers and midfielders and between 52 inches - 72 inches for defensemen. The head of the crosse must be between 6.5 inches- 10 inches wide, except a goalie's crosse which may be between 10 inches - 12 inches. Women's sticks range from 36 inches - 44 inches. Beware that the pocket of a crosse is illegal if the top surface of a ball, when placed in the head of the crosse, is below the bottom edge of the side wall. The net is usually made of gut, linen, nylon or other synthetic material. Women's sticks have shallower pockets than men's. Make sure your stick is comfortable and the right length and weight with the proper pocket depth and handle. Check with your league to make sure of its rules on stick lengths etc. as they vary from league to league.
