Because of the wide variety of sports that make up martial arts there are some which require protective gear. Most parts of the body can be protected with padding including your mouth, jaw, teeth, groin, ears, eyes, head, chest, forearms, knees, shins and wrists. Make sure all of your padding fits comfortably and snugly as you don’t want it moving or slipping down your body while competing. The padding should also be adequate and protect you properly in the areas it’s designed to. Make sure it will absorb shocks and cushion blows. It should also be lightweight and durable and shouldn’t restrict your movement in any way. Try to get well ventilated and breathable gear to keep you cool and dry at all times. Protective gear comes in various styles, sizes, colors and materials.
