Paintball, like airsoft is a relatively new game as it has only been around for a little over 25 years. Its origin comes from children's games such as capture the flag and kick the can. Paintball refers to various games where two or more players shoot paintballs at each other from a marker/gun. A player is hit when a paintball contacts, bursts and paints them or any of their equipment. Paintballs that don't break aren't counted, neither is paint from paintballs that break before reaching the player. Referees enforce the rules and ensure players safety. There are recreational players and tournament players. Recreational players can usually rent equipment for the day, whereas tournament players usually own their equipment. The game can get a little costly as you need paintballs and markers, a hopper to hold paintballs and an air source to shoot them such as nitrogen, carbon dioxide or high pressure air canisters. You also need clothing, goggles and a vest.
