Polo balls are quite hard as they were originally made of wood or willow root, but are now usually made of polyresin and hard plastic material. The ball should be about 3 inches to 3.5 inches in diameter and weigh between 3.5 ounces to 4.5 ounces. There are also versions of equestrian polo that is played indoor and different softer balls are used for these games. These are generally made out of water resistant plastic or leather and are inflatable. If using an inflatable ball you want one that will keep its shape and retain the air while being battered around the arena.
