While polo players are not made to wear any equipment other than a helmet and chin strap, it's a wise choice to protect yourself anyway, especially your knees, with a pair of padded knee guards. Most knee guards have tough durable leather exteriors with felt or foam padding on the inside of them. They are attached to your knees with either straps or Velcro. Make sure the pads fit you properly, so they don't slide down your knees while playing. Knee guards come in various materials, sizes, designs and colors. Many players wear knee guards that match their boots and saddles.
