Since ringette is played on ice you may think gloves are worn to keep your hands warm, well they are, but they are also worn for protection. Ringette gloves are made to cushion the inside of your hands while stick handling, passing and shooting and to protect the outside of your hands from opponents’ sticks and the ring. Ringette gloves are quite similar to hockey gloves. Most of them are made of nylon and leather for lightweight performance. A good pair of ringette gloves should protect your thumbs, fingers and wrists along with your palms and the back of your hands. The fingers should be flexible to enable you to maneuver your hands on the stick. The palms should be soft, but strong. Make sure your gloves fit you properly and they are breathable to keep your hands dry and relatively cool while playing. Ringette goaltenders wear slightly different gloves than forwards and defenders. Ringette gloves are available in assorted colors, sizes, materials and styles.
