Ringette sticks are similar to hockey sticks, but they don’t have a blade on them. If you are playing the game for fun then feel free to use any type of stick you like. However, if you are playing in an organized league you may have to follow certain restrictions regarding your ringette sticks. In most leagues, the maximum length of the stick depends on the height of the player. While the player is standing on skates with an arm extended out from the body, the maximum length of the ringette stick is the distance from the ice to the height of the underarm. Your sticks must be smooth at both ends with no added tape on the playing end of the stick. There are also rules about the width of a ringette stick so you should check with your organization before buying them. Ringette sticks may be made of wood, plastic, and aluminum, and/or any other material approved by your league. Ringette players' positions used to be denoted by the color of their stick. Defenders used red sticks, forwards used blue sticks, and the centers' sticks were white.
