You will need to wear a pair of riding boots or cowboy / cowgirl boots if you plan on participating in a rodeo. Low heels help prevent your feet from sliding through the stirrups and the narrowness of the boots help stop your feet from getting tangled in the stirrups, if you fall off the horse. If your feet get caught you will be dragged around by your horse. You should also wear spurs on your boots in case you need to nudge your horse along. Make sure your boots fit well and are comfortable. They should also suit the weather conditions to keep you either cool or warm and dry. Boots come in various sizes, styles, colors and materials.
