There is a common saying that goes "Soccer is a gentleman's game played by hooligans and rugby is a hooligan's game played by gentlemen." Rugby is one of the more popular outdoor team sports in the world and has its own World Cup. It is the national sport of Wales, New Zealand and of Pacific countries such as Tonga, Fiji and Samoa. The game is similar to American football, in some aspects, and the balls used are quite similar. The major difference between football and rugby is the ball can not be passed forward in rugby, it can only go laterally or backward. It's a relatively inexpensive game to play as padding isn't mandatory, but it's wise to use. You only need a ball and a good pair of boots to enjoy a game.
