Although most rugby players don't wear padding, it's now becoming more common in the sport to protect against injuries. Padding is permitted as long as it won't harm other players and isn't made of a rigid or hard material. A good way to protect yourself is to wear shoulder pads which are usually lightweight padded vests that protect your shoulders and collarbones. Make sure the pads aren't bulky and that they are well ventilated to keep you cool and dry. They should fit snugly, so they don't move once you are hit. Shoulder pads come in various materials, colors and sizes.
