Whenever you are on a skateboard you should wear a helmet, no matter what your skill level is or where you are going on your board. You should protect your head with a lightweight helmet that has a hard outer shell with a soft foam-like or rubber padding inside to cushion any impacts. Most helmets are made of composite materials for strength, lightness and durability. Make sure your helmet is well ventilated and fits you properly. If you do happen to fall on your helmet, you should inspect it afterwards to make sure it is still useable. Helmets come in various materials, sizes, styles and colors.
