Skateboard Wheels
All About Skateboard Wheels
Without wheels your skateboard might as well be a snowboard. Wheels are obviously an essential part of the board and you need to get wheels you are comfortable with. Most wheels are made of composite material that come in various widths and degrees of hardness. Narrower wheels are generally lighter and easier to control, whereas wider wheels are used for long boards and are faster. The wheels' hardness is measured by something called durometer. Harder, narrower wheels land harder on impact, while softer, wider wheels offer more traction and a smoother ride. There are no specific rules on the size and hardness of your wheels, so make sure you buy them according to your needs.
