If you are planning on doing any cross country skiing or back country skiing you should always take along a hydration pack in case of injury or if you get lost. These packs fit over your shoulders and back and are designed to carry skis or a snowboard, a shovel, probes, extra clothing, tools and snacks. The packs should also hold enough water for at least three hours to four hours of hydration. A good hydration pack should also have a padded waistbelt and harness system to keep you comfortable while skiing. Many of them also have inside soft pockets or compartments included to protect your goggles or glasses.
