If you’re going to be traveling a fair distance while snowshoeing, it’s very important that you take along a survival kit just in case. A good kit should contain a map and compass, flashlight or headlamp, dry matches, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, gloves, socks, whistle, knife, nylon cord, first aid kit and batteries. It’s also a good idea to take along a cellular phone and never go snowshoeing without taking along extra food and water. If possible, you should take along as many of these items as you can, even when traveling short distances. Make sure your survival kit is in a floatable, waterproof container or bag.
