Because soccer goalies are often diving to the ground, they usually wear some padding to help protect them and help them save the ball. Padded shorts are very popular as they help protect the thighs and hips. You can also get padded pants which cover the hips, thighs and knees. Some goalies prefer to keep the padding under their clothing and will wear forearm guards, elbow guards and knee guards. These pads are all lightweight and made of flexible material.
