If you plan on surfing in cold water or cold weather it's a good idea to get yourself a wet suit to protect you from the elements. While the wet suit will insulate your body, you should also protect your head, hands and feet, so you will need accessories to go with the suit. Make sure the boots, gloves and head gear are all lightweight and waterproof and they keep you warm. The boots should be flexible and easy to get into and out of. They should also have a good gripping sole for traction on your surf board.
