There are various sized balls used in handball as the size of the ball is different for men women and children. Team handballs are made of leather, synthetic material and latex with many of them having foam backing. The handball's are about the size of a large cantaloupe. The ball for men weighs between 15oz. - 17 oz. and is 23"- 24" in circumference. Women and juniors use a smaller ball that weighs between 12 oz -14 oz. and is 21"-22" in circumference, while children use smaller varieties of balls for mini-handball. You want a ball that is easy to grip, is waterproof, will keep its shape during use and will retain the air inside. Balls come in various colors and practice balls are also available, which may be made of rubber.
