Water skiing has been around for less than a hundred years, but it's still a popular sport among men and women in some parts of the world. It's not a sport everybody has easy access to as you need a boat and a body of water to enjoy water skiing. It can be expensive because of the boat, but if a few people chip in and share the costs it can be a relatively cheap sport, since all you really need are skis, rope and a life jacket. If you're water skiing for fun, the length of rope, type of ski and speed of the boat are up to you, but if you are skiing competitively then you must follow the rules and regulations of the various organizations.
