Let's face it you can't really water ski without a boat and not too many people own boats. If possible, it would be a good idea for a few skiers to chip in on buying a boat to minimize the cost. You have a few options when buying a boat as there are various types. Inboard motors are the most powerful and are located in the hull of the boat. Outboard motors are generally less expensive and clamp onto the transom. Inboard/outboard motors combine the power of an inboard motor with the maneuverability of an outboard motor. Modern technology has improved motors to over 300 horsepower. Try to find a boat with a composite hull and a motor that reduces noise and water pollution, but the most important thing is to find a boat you are comfortable driving.
