Water skis used to be made out of wood, but are now generally made out of fiberglass or some other composite material, making them lighter and stronger. You should try out a few different types of water skis if possible before deciding to buy a pair. There are standard skis and skis designed for jumping and slalom. You may have to take into account the speed of your boat. Wider skis are better for slow boats since they are easier to pull up, easier to get up on and easier to tow. Narrow skis turn better and ski faster. Remember different sized people should use different sized skis. Water skis come in various materials, widths, lengths and colors. You should buy a pair you are the most comfortable with.
