In official play, Waterpolo caps are worn by every player to signify which team they are playing for. Each team must wear different colored caps, usually blue or white, and they can’t be the same color as the ball. Goalkeepers usually wear red caps. The caps must be numbered and fastened under your chin. For many competitive events the caps must come with malleable ear protectors and it’s a good idea to protect your ears at all times. Make sure your cap is lightweight and fits snugly, so it doesn’t come off or move around your head during play. Caps come in various sizes, colors, materials and styles.
