All About Weightlifting Clothing

There are different levels of weightlifting competitions and many organizations have their own rules, so check them out before deciding what to wear. In local gym competitions you should wear practical weightlifting clothing; the same as you would during training. It should be comfortable and show your body movements, so don’t cover your knees and elbows as the judges need to see their position during a lift to ensure it is done properly. Higher level competitions may follow Olympic standards, which state the outfit must cover the lifter’s trunk, have no collar, expose the elbows and knees and be close fitting. Lifters may wear a one or two piece outfit of any color. You may also wear a T-shirt underneath the outfit as long as it doesn’t have a collar or sleeves that cover the elbow. You can also wear cycling shorts over or under the outfit as long as it doesn’t cover your knees. The same goes for socks.
